Cooler days call for comfort food, and the Top Hat’s new fall menu has plenty of fresh flavors to dig into this season—ten new dishes to be exact! As a scratch-made kitchen in downtown Missoula, we’re proud to offer something for everyone, whether you’re gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, or a meat lover. It’s the perfect spot to gather with friends, family, or coworkers over a good meal.
We’re also proud to partner with local producers and makers whenever possible, from Montana-raised beef and pork to bread from Le Petit Bakery, microgreens from Farm Hand Farm, and vegan gelato from Cool Earth Creamery. That commitment to quality ingredients carries through to our latest menu additions, with hearty bowls, shareable appetizers, fresh salads, and a little something sweet to finish.

Small Plate
The Buffalo Chicken Cheese Dip is a gluten-free appetizer made for sharing, featuring blackened buffalo chicken, hot sauce, ranch, chives, and corn tortilla chips.
We switched up the sauces for our Chicken Wings, served bone-in with your choice of cherry chipotle bbq, Carolina hot mustard, or sriracha teriyaki, plus ranch or bleu cheese on the side. This is also available on the happy hour menu!
Salad
Vegetarian and gluten-free, the Roasted Broccolini Salad combines mixed greens, roasted broccolini, crumbled goat cheese, pomegranate arils, spiced candied almonds, and charred shallot sherry vinaigrette.
Sandwich
Our take on a classic, the Spicy Jalapeño Smashed Patty Melt features Montana-raised smashed beef patties, caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese, fried pickled jalapeños, and remoulade, served on thick-cut marble rye.
Specialties
A hearty dish packed with flavor and color, the Beef Barbacoa Bowl includes slow braised beef barbacoa, red chile rice, refried pinto beans, fire roasted corn, avocado, aji verde, cilantro and toasted flour tortilla with lime. Ask about the gluten free option.
Rich in taste and texture, the Bison Bolognese features red wine-braised bison, pappardelle, Parmesan, parsley, and Le Petit garlic bread.
A classic Southern comfort food, our Cajun Shrimp & Grits boasts white gulf shrimp, andouille sausage, cajun cream sauce, cheddar stone ground grits, scallions, hot sauce and fried okra. Ask about a gluten free option. Also available on the happy hour menu!
This one was such a hit as a special that we had to add it to the menu! The Teriyaki Fried Chicken Bowl features buttermilk-fried chicken tossed in teriyaki sauce, bell pepper, purple cabbage, pickled red onions, cilantro, cucumber, and mandarin oranges, served over rice and mixed greens. Ask about the gluten-free option.
Dessert
This new dessert screams fall — the Finnish Apple Cake is a generous slice of cinnamon-and-sugar-dusted apple cake topped with Big Dipper vanilla bean ice cream and salted caramel. Also available on the happy hour menu!
As always, the Top Hat bar has a drink for everyone—whether you’re indulging in an alcoholic beverage or not.
We have rotating special cocktails, NA mocktails and craft brews in addition to the usual bar offerings, including a large selection of beer, seltzers, wine, and liquor.
Plus, there’s plenty of Lake Missoula Tea, Black Coffee Roasting Co. coffee, and kombucha.
Happy Hour runs Tuesday – Saturday from 3-6pm featuring new menu additions alongside your go-to classics like Chicken & Waffles!
